About CalculatedPath

College admissions is one of the highest-stakes decisions a family makes, and the information available is often incomplete, misleading, or designed to sell something. CalculatedPath exists to change that.

We build free, accurate tools that help California students understand exactly where they stand in the admissions process. The calculators remain free and usable without an account. If you want planner autosave, named plans, and account-backed features, you can sign in with Google or an emailed sign-in link without leaving the page you are working on.

    Our Tools

    • UC GPA Calculator calculates your University of California admission GPA with official weighting rules, including honors and AP course caps. Includes a Campus Match feature that compares your GPA to admit ranges at each UC campus.
    • CSU GPA Calculator calculates your California State University admission GPA, with support for Cal Poly SLO's unique 9th-grade inclusion rule and correct handling of college courses (which count double in the CSU system).
    • 4-Year Course Planner lets you map out all four years of high school coursework and see how your choices affect your UC, CSU, and Cal Poly SLO GPAs in real time. Signed-in users can also save up to five named plans and return to them later.

All three tools share course data seamlessly, so you can transfer your courses between calculators and the planner without re-entering anything.

    Course Data

Our tools pull from the official UC a-g course database, covering thousands of California high schools. We update this data regularly so your course listings match what your school actually offers.

    Our Approach

    • Accurate by default. GPA calculation rules come directly from UC and CSU documentation. We handle the edge cases (honors caps, sub-caps, college course double-counting) that other calculators get wrong.
    • Private by design. UC and CSU calculator work stays in your browser. If you sign in and use saved planner features, that planner data is stored in your account so it can autosave across visits.
    • Free and independent. We are not affiliated with any university, test prep company, or admissions consulting firm.

    Who We Are

CalculatedPath was built by a parent and engineer who believes families deserve transparent, accurate tools when making decisions about higher education. The same rigor applied to engineering mission-critical software is applied here: get the calculations right, cite the rules, and never ship something you would not trust with your own kids' futures.
